Ramdev gets support in Shimoga

Shimoga: Members of various organisations staged a demonstration in the city on Saturday expressing support to yoga guru Baba Ramdev, who is on a fast to impress upon the Government to bring back black money stashed in foreign banks.

Organisations such as Bharata Samvidhana Ulisi Horata Vedike, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, Nagarika Hitarakshana Samitigala Okkuta, and Shimoga District Chamber of Commerce and Industry participated in the protest organised by Patanjali Yoga Samiti.

Leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party and the Sangh Parivar also took part.

Addressing the meeting in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office, K.S. Anantharamaiah, entrepreneur, said corruption had weakened the foundation of the democracy.

People are losing faith in democracy since even elected representatives were engaged in corruption.

Referring to scams such as 2G spectrum and misuse of public money in organising the Commonwealth Games, he said it was time to enlighten people against corruption.
