Siddeshwar, MP, inaugurates degree college at Bharamsagar


Rs. 10 lakh sanctioned for construction of Samskrutika Bhavan

NABARD giving loans to construct college buildings in rural areas




DEVELOPMENT WORK:-

CHITRADURGA: G.M. Siddeshwar, MP, on Saturday inaugurated the degree college building and laid the foundation stone for the Government Industrial Training Institute at Bharamsagar.

Mr. Siddeshwar commended M. Chandrappa, MLA, for his initiative in securing around Rs. 300 crore from the Government for various developmental schemes in his constituency.

The State Government had accorded priority for development of the constituency by granting permission to construct educational institutions, including residential schools, and roads. It had sanctioned 5,000 houses for those not having a house, besides announcing farm loans at 1 per cent interest to prevent farmers from approaching moneylenders for loans at high rates of interest.

He lauded the completion of the degree college building within a year at a cost of Rs. 2.15 crore and expressed hope that the building to house the Government Industrial Training Institute will also be completed quickly.

More courses

Mr. Chandrappa, who presided over the function, said that efforts were on to introduce more courses in the degree college and to establish a pre-university college. Thanking the Government for according priority for setting up degree colleges in rural areas,

Mr. Chandrappa said that Rs. 10 lakh had been sanctioned for the construction of Samskrutika Bhavan on the degree college premises.

The Government Industrial Training Institute building was estimated to cost Rs. 2.7 crore, he said and added that a students' hostel had been proposed .

He promised to strive for the overall development of his constituency. K.V. Kodandaramaiah, Director of Collegiate Education, who was the chief guest, said that National Bank For Agriculture and Rural Development had advanced the loans for the construction of college buildings in rural areas.

Stating that there was a shortage of qualified teaching staff, he said that postgraduate courses were being started in some of the well-established colleges to overcome the problem.

According to him, notification to fill up 800 vacant posts of lecturers would be issued soon.

President of the gram panchayat O. Thippesh and vice-president of the taluk panchayat Nirmala were among those present.
