Seven arrested in Bahadurpura double murder case

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Police on Saturday arrested seven persons in a case related to the killing of Aijaz and Malik Imran at Bahadurpura, while Murtuza ‘pahelwan', who passed on the information about Aijaz's movements, is still at large.

The South zone DCP, Vineet Brijlal, said at a press conference that Murtuza had alerted the accused about the presence of Aijaz at Akbar function hall and told them about his movements over mobile phone. Murtuza and Aijaz were involved in property dispute.

As Aijaz, a history-sheeter of Bahadurpura police station, refused to settle the deal, Murtuza hatched a plot to get him killed through Jawad with whom the former had enmity. Aijaz and his associates were charged with murdering Junaid, younger brother of Jawad, six years ago, but were acquitted later.

“Murtuza instigated Jawad stating that Aijaz was planning to kill his second younger brother too and promised to provide all help to carry out the plot,” the police said. Tipped by Murtuza that Aijaz was in the function hall, Jawad and his associates went there in two batches. They hacked to death Aijaz and Imran. Aijaz's two brothers too sustained wounds in the attack.

The accused were picked up at Mir Alam tank. Hunt is on for Murtuza and others. The DCP appealed to people to pass on information about criminal gangs operating in old city, assuring them of keeping their identity secret. He said proposals to extern five history-sheeters were already prepared and the Preventive Detention Act would be invoked against 20 more.
