SHRC directive to OGH
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: The A.P. State Human Rights Commission on Saturday directed the Osmania General Hospital superintendent and the Head of the Department of Forensic Sciences of Osmania Medical College to file comprehensive reports about the guidelines adopted in disposal of unidentified bodies.
The orders were given in connection with a petition filed Mala Sankshema Sangham in connection with the alleged disappearance of the body of an accident victim, Palli K. Paul, from the Osmania morgue.
The Commission also sought to know where the body of Mr. Paul was sent by the mortuary authorities.
The Commission said the reports should include details of bodies that were received by the morgue from May 1 to 31 and how they were disposed of.
The conflicting versions, as alleged in the petition, that Mr. Paul's body was handed over to Satya Harishchandra Foundation on May 14 and it was given to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation for disposal on May 22 gave scope for suspicions.
Report by July 17
The doubt that if the body was lying in the morgue needs to be clarified, the Commission said.
The reports should be filed by June 17, it ordered.
