MPLADS funds promised for Hasiru Tumkur project

Basavaraju, MP, to provide Rs. 32 lakh to plant 32,000 saplings in three years in Tumkur ‘Operation Parks' to be launched with the aim of clearing encroachments in parks
Tumkur: Basavaraju, MP, has said he will provide Rs. 32 lakh to plant 32,000 samplings in three years under the Hasiru Tumkur project. Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday,
Mr. Basavaraju said that he will provide the funds from the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).
In order to implement the project, a committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner will be constituted and a supervising committee headed by the MP will be formed to supervise the project.
Mr. Basavaraju announced that ‘Operation Parks' will be launched in Tumkur to clear encroachments in parks. Under the project, parks that have been encroached upon will be identified and encroachments will be cleared. To clear encroachments from parks in Tumkur, a coordination committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner will be constituted, he said.
Environmentalist T.V.N. Murthy said that in the last four years, around 17,000 trees in Tumkur were felled.
