Man sentenced to life imprisonment

Hassan: A person accused of murdering his wife has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

The fast track court in Hassan, on Friday, convicted Honnappa, a resident of Gurjenahalli in Sakaleshpur taluk.

Altercation

Honnappa killed his wife Jayanthi on September 7, 2009, following an altercation. He had forced Jayanthi to ask her mother to give him her widow pension.

Fine

As she refused to oblige, Honnappa hacked Jayanthi to death. The Sakaleshpur police had registered a case.

Sessions judge K. Phalakshappa, who heard the case, sentenced him to life imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 3,000.
