CHENNAI: Eleven new meet records — nine in individual and two in relay — were created on the second day of the Tamil Nadu State sub-junior and junior swimming meet at the Velachery Aquatics Complex here on Saturday.

Iniyan in lead

P. Iniyan (8.5) in the boys' section, along with Tejasvi Murugavel and V. Keerthi (8) in the girls' category led the field after the ninth round of the Tamil Nadu State under-9 chess championships at Jawahar Engg. College, here on Saturday.

Half a point behind the leader is C. S. Ashwath at eight points. Sharing the third spot are Sadhu S. Adithya, A. Abhishek and R. Prajesh at seven points. In girls', following the leading duo, was top seed M. Elakkeya at seven points.

Basketball team

The following players will represent Thiruvallur district in the inter-district basketball championship to be held between June 8 and 12 in Neyveli.
