MEG drubs ISRO

Bangalore: Lokeswar Singh's hat-trick (10th, 18th and 36th min.) helped MEG trounce ISRO 7-0 in a BDFA super division league match at the Football Stadium here on Saturday evening. Vineeth's brace along with productive strikes by Suraj Singh and Nugurelal also bolstered MEG's kitty.

Other result: ‘A' division: Oriental 4 (Arun 2, Manul Raj & Murali) drew with Royals 4 (Naveen 2, Zuchin & Sethu) .

Tony Alex prevails

Tony Alex prevailed over Laxman Bhat 10-8 in the best-of-19-games contest, and moved into the second round of the Weekend Tennis championship conducted by the Bulldog Tennis Academy at its courts on Kanakapura Road here on Saturday.

In another close encounter, Swaroop downed Saumil 10-7. The tournament is exclusively for players over 23 years and is being held on Saturday and Sunday.

State-ranking TT

The Ultratech State-ranking table tennis championship, conducted by the Karnataka TT Asscoaition and Rail Club, Bangalore Cantonment, will be held at the Cantonment Club hall here from June 10 to 13.

The events include non-medallist singles, cadet boys' and girls' singles, junior boys' and girls' singles, youth boys' and girls' singles, men's and women's singles, veterans and team championships. Entries should be submitted at Room No 46, Gate No.7, at Sri Kanteerava Stadium on June 7 and 8, between 4 to 6 p.m. For details, contact Chief Referee M. Dinakaran at 98802 04565.

Beagles wins

Beagles Basketball Club won the boys' title as the State sub-junior basketball championships concluded here on Saturday. Beagles defeated JSC 52-50 in the final. Southern Blues finished third after beating Young Orions 54-49. Sports Hostel (Mysore), meanwhile, emerged girls' champion after defeating JSC 43-32.
