Police descend on Ramlila Maidan
Staff Reporter & PTI
NEW DELHI: Around an hour after midnight on Saturday night a large number of police personnel descended on Ramlila Maidan where Baba Ramdev was on a hunger strike demanding government action on black money.
Chaos prevailed at the spot after 1.10 a.m. when news came that the yoga guru might be arrested after he decided to continue with his fast following the worsening of stand between him and the government.
Soon, Ramdev's supporters formed human chains to prevent his arrest.
Police were seen zeroing in on the stage where Ramdev was circled by a handful of supporters. Tear-gas enveloped a portion of the vast ground and smoke filled the air. However, it was not clear whether the police would arrest him immediately.
