Collector announces dates for farm loan melas

Panel approves establishment of units costing Rs.25crore by weaker sections


VIZIANAGARAM: District Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah has said that farmers in each mandal have been identified and asked revenue officials to be ready with details of pattadar passbooks, adangal and other relevant documents for extending crop loans to them.

At the district consultative committee meeting with bankers on Saturday evening, the Collector asked them to achieve the target of Rs. 480crore set for this kharif. He said that loans to farmers who have not availed of the facility so far would be sanctioned besides renewals and sanctioning of loans to tenant farmers.

In addition to insurance cover, the loans would be given at 4 per cent interest.

Saying that services of model farmers would be sought for sanctioning of loans, he said that loan melas would be conducted on June 21, 22, 23 and 24, July 19, 20, 21 and 22 and August 23, 24, 25 and 26 in each mandals. During the period Rs. five crore in each mandal would be disbursed.

Chief General Manager of Nabard Mohanaiah, underlining the need to improve productivity, said that loans would be sanctioned on subsidy for warehouses and cold storages. He said that NABARD would assist farm clubs, if details were submitted in the form of directory.

The committee approved establishment of units costing Rs.25crore by weaker sections. The Collector asked officials concerned to ground at least 25 per cent of the sanctioned units by August 15.

DRDA Project Director G. Vasudeva Rao said that it was decided to sanction Rs. 321.13 crore as linkages to 15,303 groups during 2011-12 and fixed target under MEPMA at Rs. 45crore. Mr. Vasudeva Rao also appealed to the Collector to conduct loan melas for SHGs.

District Lead Bank Manager B.G.K. Acharyulu, AGM of NABARD E. Srinivas, and bankers were present at the meeting.
