ADILABAD: The 32 Andhra Battalion NCC, Adilabad, observed the World Environment Day here on Sunday by organising many programmes under Commanding Officer Lt. Col. B.S. Kabsuri. Cadets from Medak, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Adilabad, who are here to participate in the combined annual training camp, participated in the programmes. A lecture was organised for the cadets wherein a Forest Department official spoke over environment protection. The cadets also participated in elocution competition on the same subject. JCO Jasbeer Singh, Captain Ch. Shiva Prasad, Third Officer P. Narender and ANOs Rajender, Rajeshwar, Rajaratnam, Raghunath Goud, Vijay Kumar and Swaroopa Rani also participated. They also interacted with cadets on the need to protect environment. Kurnool Special Correspondent writes: The World Environmental Day was observed with a rally and a meeting here on Sunday. Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board led by Environmental Engineer Krishnamurthy sponsored the programme. Deputy SP Manohar Rao flagged off the rally from Zilla Parishad which reached the venue of the meeting at Kesav Memorial School. Srinivasulu, General Manager, District Industries Centre, attended the function as chief guest. Forest Range Officer P.R. Chowdary, A. Ramchand, Joint Chief Environmental Engineer and others addressed the meeting. The speakers stressed the need for protecting environment, which they said is more valuable than development. They stressed the need for sustainable development rather than damaging the delicate environment and spending huge amounts to undo the damage.
