Chauhan terms it an attack on democracy

Staff Reporter

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has condemned the forcible eviction of yoga guru Baba Ramdev and his supporters in New Delhi.

Mr. Chauhan termed the Central government's action an attack on democracy. The “barbaric” eviction was reminiscent of similar “knee-jerk” actions taken during the Emergency. The Centre seemed to be scared after being cornered on black money and corruption. The entire nation watched the government's crushing of a peaceful movement, he pointed out.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad held demonstrations here by blocking roads and raising slogans against the UPA government. They also burned effigies of the government and of AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh.

Madhya Pradesh BJP hits out at Digvijay

PTI reports from Indore:

Madhya Pradesh BJP on Sunday attacked senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh for describing yoga guru Baba Ramdev as ‘thug.' A statement issued here by BJP co-spokesperson Umesh Sharma says that the All India Congress Committee general secretary Digvijay Singh is used to making derogatory and provoking statements.
