Spell out steps taken to root out corruption, Devineni Uma urges Central government

MLA seeks answer from Congress on the progress of delta modernisation

He alleges match fixing between YSR Congress and Congress

VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam Party Krishna district unit president Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao on Sunday deplored the eviction of yoga guru Baba Ramdev from the Ramlila Ground where he was staging a fast in protest against rampant corruption.

“The UPA Government at the Centre owes an apology to the nation for the ‘shameful' police action against the yoga guru who was protesting in a peaceful way. The Government must also spell out the steps it had taken to root out corruption,” he demanded at a press conference here.

The Mylavaram MLA also sought an answer from the ruling Congress party in the State on the progress achieved in the Krishna Eastern Branch delta modernisation. He said the Minister from the district Kolusu Parthasaradhy and the ruling party MLAs must explain the delay in conduct of the Irrigation Advisory Committee Board meeting.

Referring to the election of Nadendla Manohar as the Assembly Speaker, Mr. Uma Maheswara Rao dubbed it as a ‘match fixing' between the YSR Congress and the Sonia Gandhi's Congress.

Draws flak

The arrest of yoga guru Baba Ramdev drew flak from various quarters in the city on Sunday. The city unit of BJP, condemning the arrest, took out a protest rally from its office to Lenin Centre. The BJP workers wore black ribbons around their mouth and marched towards Lenin Centre.
