Atwal falters

DUBLIN (USA): A poor front nine after a good start cost Arjun Atwal dear as he slipped to tied 58 after carding a two-over 74 in the third round of the Memorial on the PGA Golf Tour.

Atwal birdied the second and fifth holes, but dropped bogeys on third and seventh. A triple bogey on ninth spoiled his card further. Not even a birdie on the 18th could help matters.

Steve Stricker stayed in the lead after shooting a 69 and is still three clear of Jonathan Byrd (69). Stricker, at 12-under 204, is looking for a 10th career win on the PGA Tour.

Matt Kuchar (68) and Brandt Jobe (69) shared the third place at eight-under 208 — PTI
