Judicial custody for MLA, 11 others

Cases were booked against protesters for causing violence


Tumkur: The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court at Turuvekere in Tumkur district on Monday ordered the police to take M.T. Krishnappa, MLA, and 11 members of the Janata Dal (Secular)into judicial custody in connection with five cases booked against them in 2010 on charge of obstructing KSRTC employees from discharging their duties and causing disturbance to public during a protest they staged then.

Turuvekere police against M.T. Krishnappa and 11 Janata Dal (Secular) members who had blocked the road, barged into the KSRTC depot and obstructed the officials from discharging their duties in 2010.

‘Did not seek bail'

And, the 12 of them had not applied for anticipatory bail and so the court instructed the police to take them into judicial custody.

M.T. Krishnappa led JD (S) members in staging a protest demanding inauguration of the KSRTC bus-stand at Turuvekere on August 30, 2010.

Justice Banni Katti heard the case on Monday and instructed the police to take Krishnappa and 11 others into judicial custody till June 18.
