95 p.c. NIT Warangal students get placements

Highest salary offered is Rs. 22 lakh per annum


WARANGAL: Ninety five per cent of the students of National Institute of Technology (NIT) got placements during the year 2010-2011 with an average salary of Rs. 5.80 lakh per annum and highest salary offered was Rs. 22 lakh per annum.

NIT Placement Officer S. Srinivasa Rao said a total of 225 organisations visited the campus and offered 805 jobs to its students. Among them 501 for B.Tech students and 304 are PG students.

According to Prof. Srinivasa Rao, 95 per cent of students from Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Metallurgy and Chemical Engineering have taken core jobs in their respective branches. Of the total Post Graduate students in Engineering and Science streams put together, about 54 per cent of them have been placed.

Companies

Some of the organisations which visited the campus included Facebook, Google, Schulmberger, Amazon, Adobe, DE Shaw, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, Morgan Stanley, IOCL, NTPC, BHEL, VSP, TATA Motors, Reliance Industries, Analog Devices, Qualcom, IDBI, L&T, AFCONS and TCS.

‘Well-recognised'

“All the programmes offered by NIT Warangal are well-recognised and curriculum is in line with the industry needs. The visiting companies have appreciated the performance of our students who lived up to the expectations of the organisations,” Prof. Srinivasa Rao said.
