Kodagu resort bags international award

MYSORE: Windflower Resort in Kodagu has bagged the ‘Best Resort in India' award at the International Hotel Awards. This prestigious award is given away by the IHA in association with New York Times, Google and Bloomberg Television.

The chairman of the group, P.V. Giri, was present to receive the award at The Longemont Hotel in Shanghai on May 31. The award ceremony was attended by hundreds of leading hospitality professionals from across the Asia Pacific region, a press release by the Windflower Group said.

The Windflower Group has five resorts, in Mysore, Kodagu (Coorg), Bandipur, Vythiri and Puducherry.

“The International Hotel Awards were launched by the organisation that runs the International Property Awards, which were established 17 years ago. It aims to recognise the best hotels from each country, including those that have been specifically built for conventions, spas, airports or resorts,” the release said.

Eighteen countries took part in the competition. Hotels were chosen for their green credentials and excellent architectural merit and design. Of the lot, The Windflower Resort, Kodagu, was chosen the Best Resort in India for all-round excellence in product, service and overall hospitality standards, the release said.
