Shankar Rao targets Sarvey Satyanarayana

HYDERABAD: Minister for Handlooms P. Shankar Rao was in focus on Tuesday again, this time for his tirade against Congress MP Sarvey Satyanarayana representing Malkajgiri constituency.

Alleging that the MP was behind several irregularities committed in respect of land allotments in Secunderabad Cantonment, largest of the 62 cantonments in the country, he demanded an inquiry by the State government. Dr. Shankar Rao, who represents Secunderabad Cantonment, appealed to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to take action against him.

At a media conference here, the Minister accused Mr. Satyanarayana of occupying prime land in the Cantonment and acquiring many other sites in benami names. Several structures had come up in the Cantonment in violation of the civic body rules and the MP was behind many of them, he alleged. He said the CBI, which had gone into these irregularities, found prima facie evidence against some elected members of the Cantonment also. He sought independent inquiries into the irregularities to punish the officials responsible.
