IIM-C enters online networking sites

Kolkata: The Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta has become the latest entrant into the online social networking space with the revamped portal of the institution providing links to popular networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to keep today's cyber-friendly crowd updated about the premier institution.

While pages of the IIM-C created by former and current students already existed in cyber space, it is the institute's official foray into the virtual world of social networking.

The initiative of sprucing up the institute's web portal www.iimcal.ac.in is part of IIM-C's golden jubilee year celebrations and a host of new features have been added to the portal to make it more interactive and user-friendly, according to the IIM-C authorities.

Launched on June 3, the site was already ‘liked' by 1647 users on Facebook and “followed” by 2,969 users on Twitter on Tuesday.

There are facilities like chat forums and discussion boards for cross user group interactions.
