Bail plea hearing adjourned in Dara case

JAIPUR: The district and sessions court here on Tuesday adjourned to June 15 the hearing of an application for anticipatory bail by Rajasthan's Additional Director-General of Police A.K. Jain in the Dara Singh encounter case.
The hearing of the anticipatory bail plea of another accused, Additional Superintendent of Police Arshad Ali, too was adjourned to the same date by judge K.S. Bhatnagar.
Counsel for Mr. Jain sought adjournment, saying his party was yet to be provided with a copy of the charge sheet. The CBI, probing the case, filed the charge sheet on Friday against Mr. Jain and 15 others, including the former Rajasthan Minister, Rajendra Singh Rathore.
Dara Singh, alias Dariya, was allegedly killed in a ‘fake' encounter by the Special Operations Group on the city outskirts in October 2006.
The CBI Special Court here extended till June 15 the judicial custody of another accused, Inspector- General of Police A. Ponnuchamy. Mr. Ponnuchamy, SOG's Superintendent of Police at the time of the incident, was arrested on May 15.
