COIMBATORE: Pilloor drinking water supply pipeline burst near Vaiyampalayam on Tuesday afternoon. According to sources in the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board the burst happened at a joint on the mainline.
The mainline carries 125 million litres a day, supplying water to the Coimbatore Corporation, Palladam Municipality and 523 habitations in 20 village panchayats. Sources said that it would take more than 12 hours to repair the pipeline as the waters have to be flushed out before taking up the work. The supply would be restored by noon on Wednesday.
