Bannerghatta Road to be widened
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike's (BBMP) Standing Committee for Town Planning has decided to place the onus of ensuring that big commercial complexes have the requisite trade licence issued by the civic body on the jurisdictional Executive Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineer and Joint Director (Town Planning).
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting on Tuesday. The members noted that several commercial complexes were not renewing the trade licences and had got the building plan approvals from the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA). This was causing a loss of nearly Rs. 300 crore to the civic authority.
The meeting also approved the plan to widen two roads — Bannerghatta Road and Halageoderahalli Road. The widening would be taken up as per the specifications mentioned in the Revised Master Plan 2015. The 7.5-km stretch of Bannerghatta Road would be widened to 45 metres, while the 700 m stretch of Halageoderahalli Road would be widened to 18 metres.
