Japan Ministry offers scholarships

Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has announced three programmes

Students who have completed PU or 12th standard can apply for any of these programmes


BANGALORE: Students looking to go abroad for undergraduate studies can now take advantage of scholarships offered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan. Students who have completed pre-university or 12 {+t} {+h} standard can apply for one of three scholarships programmes: Specialised Training College Students Programme, College of Technology Students Programme and Undergraduate Students Programme. Students who are interested in applying for the scholarship, should have been born between April 2, 1990 and April 1, 1995. Candidates will be selected through a written examination. Consulate of Japan in Bangalore will conduct interviews.

It is a prerequisite that the candidate attend a one-year intensive course in Japanese language as part of the programme. The Specialised Training College Students Programme, which is a three-year course, offers an undergraduate level certificate in technology, personal care and nutrition, education and welfare and business.

The College of Technology Students Programme is a four-year course where students can obtain a diploma in mechanical engineering, civil engineering and maritime engineering. The five-year undergraduate students programme offers a bachelors degree in arts and natural sciences.

Application forms for the written examination can be obtained from the Consulate of Japan, Cubbon Road. They can also be downloaded from the Embassy of Japan website: www.in.emb-japan.go.jp. The last date for submission of forms is July 1. For details, contact Ph: 080-40649999.
