On warpath: Teachers, on top of the DEO office building in Sangareddy on Wednesday, threating to jump alleging injustice to them. -
SANGAREDDY: Tension prevailed for sometime at the District Education Officer's (DEO) office in the district headquarters on Wednesday when some of the teachers threaten to jump from the building if they were not permitted for counselling. Finally, the issue was settled as they decided to approach the court.
According to sources, 15 teachers belonging to other districts are working here in different schools. In the past, they got a stay from the court to continue in the district against the government decision to send them to their native districts under GO 610.
The officials denied them permission to participate in the counselling for transfers on the ground that the issue is pending with the court though they sought transfer within the district. Irate over the issue, the teachers climbed the building of the DEO threatening to jump from it if they were not allowed to participate in the counselling.
The drama continued for about three hours from 12 noon onwards.
Knowing this, Collector S. Suresh Kumar sent District Revenue Officer P. Wilson Babu to the spot. He had convinced them to come down and held discussions with them.
The teachers have decided to approach the court again. With this the officials had a sigh of relief.
