Special buses for Civil Services exam

PUDUCHERRY: The Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms will operate special buses on June 12 for the benefit of candidates, who are taking the All India Civil Services (Preliminary) examination in Puducherry conducted by the Union Public Services Commission.

According to a release, Puducherry had been selected by the UPSC as one of the centres to conduct the examination in 2011. A total of 1,326 candidates have registered to take the examination at four centres in the town.

As a special arrangement, special buses would be operated on June 12, between 7 a.m. and 8.45 a.m. to assist candidates who are coming from far away places. An information centre would be set up at the new bus stand near the police booth, which would function between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. to guide students to the examination centres.

Arrangements have also been made for special bus services from the centres back to the bus stand once the examination gets over at 4.30 p.m. This apart, a special control room would be functioning at the office of the co-ordination supervisor, Civil Services (Preliminary) Examinations, Chief Secretariat, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on June 11 and 12. The control room could be contacted at 0413-2220884 and 0413-2233341.

The release said that elaborate security would be provided at all centres and only bonafide candidates allowed to enter the centres.
