MALAPPURAM: A meeting of the Students Facility Committee, held under the chairmanship of Additional District Magistrate K.V. Vasudevan here on Thursday, decided to issue identity cards to parallel college students through the Regional Transport Office (RTO).
Parallel college students should submit their details to Joint RTO offices, which in turn will provide the students with identity cards.
These cards, after affixing photographs and getting the official seal of the respective colleges, should be submitted to the RTO for validation. Private buses will accept only passes issued by the RTO. Transport authorities will charge Re.1 for the identity card. All cards will be of uniform colour.
The meeting decided that private buses should give concession to parallel college students until the passes were issued by the RTO.
The first phase of issuing passes will be completed by June 20.
Student representatives complained of increasing incidents of harassment of students by bus workers. They demanded that bus workers be given behavioural training. They also demanded that fare concession should be given in KSRTC's Town-to-Town buses also.
