Chennai: In the wake of a series of reports that Union Textiles Minister Dayanidhi Maran could have benefited from pay-offs in a telecom deal, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday termed untenable his continuation in the Cabinet. Talking to reporters, BJP national secretary Muralidhar Rao said already two persons from Tamil Nadu, former Union Minister for Information Technology and Communications A. Raja and Rajya Sabha MP M. Kanimozhi, had been jailed in 2G spectrum case. As Mr. Maran was in the eye of the controversy, his continuation as Union Minister was untenable. He asked the Prime Minister to remove Mr. Maran from his post immediately. As the needle of suspicion was moving from the periphery to the core, many more skeletons will tumble out of 2G spectrum cupboard, Mr. Rao said. The Centre should come out with details of black money stashed away in banks in Switzerland and Germany, reveal the names of the account holders and apologise to the nation for violating the fundamental right of citizens to peacefully protest against the policies and actions of the government.
