CHENNAI: Godrej Locks, a business unit of Godrej & Boyce, has launched i-Secure Mechatronix lock. Addressing presspersons, Shyam Motwani, Executive Vice-President, said the product combined the latest mechanical and electronic locking technologies in a single key that cannot be duplicated. The lock opens only after verification of the mechanical identity and electronic encryption. It will give a beep after two wrong attempts, signalling unauthorised access. It also has an auto switch function, which permits the lock to be opened by the key mechanically, even if the battery drains out owing to the neglect/delay in change of batteries. An in-built programme enables lost keys to be deleted from the system with the aid of the programming key. The lock division clocked in a turnover of Rs.350 crore in 2010-11. The company was exporting its products to SAARC countries and parts of UAE, the middle-east and Africa and exports constituted around 5 per cent of the division's turnover.
