CMP: disband Pariyaram college panel

Thiruvananthapuram: The Communist Marxist Party (CMP) has urged the State government to disband the administrative committee of the Pariyaram Medical College in connection with the gross irregularities in admissions to postgraduate courses.

In a statement here on Thursday, CMP general secretary M.V. Raghavan alleged that the CPI(M), which had captured the administration of the medical college while in power, had misused power from the day it assumed office.

The administrative committee, under the control of the party, was primarily responsible for sabotaging the State government's policy of 50:50 quota in admissions, he said. It was surprising to note that the former Health Minister, P.K. Sreemathy, had issued orders that led to the violation of the agreement. He said the government should order a probe into the irregularities.
