HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC)has announced the formation of a task force to inspect and evaluate star hotels in the twin cities on seven prescribed parameters. The task force comprising Chief Medical Officer of Health, Chief Veterinary Officer, three Assistant Medical Officers of Health and the Vigilance Inspector will inspect and evaluate the parameters and allocate marks for grading the star hotels, said Mayor B. Kartika Reddy on Thursday. In a meeting with hotels representatives, she appealed to the hoteliers to avoid use of plastics keeping public health in view and help develop Hyderabad into a clean and healthy city. Cleanliness of surroundings, results of food samples, drinking water quality, maintenance of kitchen, cleanliness of utensils, parking facilities, violation of statutory norms and other provisions and usage of plastics are among the parameters to be tested for. Deputy Mayor Jaffar Hussain said the GHMC certification will help hotels in providing better facilities for customers and in their promotion too.
