‘Akshara deevena' on June 17

Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA: Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam in association with the Hindu Dharma Parirakshana Trust will organise ‘Akshara Deevena', a mass aksharabhyasam programme, on June 17.

School bags, slates, notebooks, erasers, and pencils would be given to the children who participate in the ‘aksharabhyasam'. The Endowments commissioner issued orders to take up the programme with a view to promote the ‘aksharabhyasam' ritual. Emphasis would be laid on encouraging the children from downtrodden and weaker sections.

The temple priests said the ‘aksharabhyasam' was an occasion when the young children are introduced to the world of alphabet as they take their first step into the world of knowledge. The writing on grains indicates the acquisition of knowledge, which leads to prosperity, they said.

Similar programme would be organised at a school located opposite to MPDO office in Gannavaram on June 13.
