Instructions on Bt. Cotton seeds

HYDERABAD: The Government has asked farmers in the State to insist on retailers and dealers to issue receipts while purchasing Bt. Cotton seeds.

V. Nagireddy, principal secretary, Agriculture, said in a press note here on Friday that the receipts issued by the seller should contain the details about the seeds indicating whether they are hybrid variety. He said the stocks were limited only in the case of certain hybrid varieties. Till now, 50,64,191 packets of Bt Cotton seeds had been positioned in the districts as against 91 lakh packets required. He asked the retailers/ dealers to display stock position boards.
