RPF constable commits suicide

Staff Reporter

KOLKATA: A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle at the Eastern Railway headquarters here early on Friday.

Primary investigations by the police revealed that David Kujur was suffering from acute depression.

Twenty-five-year-old Mr. Kujur hailed from Gumla in Jharkhand and joined duty on Thursday after a month-long leave.

“Prima facie, he was suffering from intense mental depression due to certain personal reasons. According to his colleagues, however, he did not show any sign of depression. He shot himself with his Insas rifle at the headquarters at around 7.45 a.m.,” S.C. Sahoo, Chief Security Officer of Eastern Railway, said.
