SRIKAKULAM: A call to observe bandh in the agency areas to protest against mining on the Kannedhara Hills evoked mixed response on Saturday as police thwarted the plans of the agitators. As many as 115 tribal people were taken into custody in Seethampet and Kotturu mandals when they disrupted the movement of RTC buses. Kannedhara Porata Samiti leaders S.Mukhalingam, Sundaramma, and Damayanti Naidu were also arrested. They alleged that police officials colluded with Roads& Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao and thwarted their meet with Chief Minister. They vowed to continue stir till the lease granted to Rammanohar Naidu, son of Mr. Prasada Rao is cancelled.
