Angul: A construction worker died after being hit by a vehicle in the premises of a private steel and power plant at Nisha in Angul district, triggering protest by public which set the killer car on fire. Police said Jagannath Nayak was on way to his work on a bicycle inside the plant premises on Friday when he was knocked down by the vehicle, police said. Infuriated over the incident, workers and others gathered near the site and set the vehicle on fire. They staged a dharna placing the body on the road demanding adequate compensation to the victim's family. The protesters dispersed after the company authorities announced Rs. 5 lakh as ex-gratia to the next of kin of Nayak. PTI
