V.S.Vijay VELLORE: Health Minister V.S. Vijay has called for coordinated efforts by people's representatives and departmental officials with the objective of ensuring that the government's welfare schemes reached the targeted beneficiaries. He was presiding over a meeting to introduce MLAs of Vellore district and officials of various departments to each other and to review the development works of various departments at the Collectorate here on Saturday. Dr. Vijay appealed to the MLAs and officials to strive to ensure that the goal of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in making Tamil Nadu the best State in India is achieved. He urged the officials to inspect various works concerning their departments and solve problems if any, or explain the reasons for their inability to solve the problems. S. Nagarajan, Collector of Vellore, spoke. Officials of the Departments of Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and minorities' welfare, Adi Dravidar welfare, health, social welfare, cooperation and highways and the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board introduced themselves and explained the schemes being implemented by their departments in Vellore district. The MLAs wanted the district administration to give priority to providing drinking water, road and health facilities and distribution of family cards in their constituencies.
