Ramdev should explain how he acquired wealth: Congress

Special Correspondent

B.K. Hariprasad terms him a ‘fake'

Bangalore: The Congress on Sunday described yoga guru Baba Ramdev as a “fake” and sought an explanation on how he acquired wealth to the tune of Rs.1,100 crore to run his trusts in various parts of the country.

Speaking to presspersons here, Congress general secretary B.K. Hariprasad said: “He is a fake Baba.”

The Congress leader was participating in a programme organised to distribute books to students in the city. Congress MLA N.L. Narendra Babu organised a “Vidyarthi Mirtra”, a free textbook and notebook distribution programme for students coming from poor families.

‘Distribute wealth'

Before demanding the Centre to bring black money stashed abroad, he should distribute his wealth to the people, Mr Hariprasad said.

Ramdev on Sunday broke his nine-day fast against corruption and for bringing back black money stashed abroad.

Mr. Hariprasad lashed out at civil society members of the Lokpal Bill joint drafting committee and said “some of them have to explain their source of income”.

The Congress leader attacked Lokayukta Santosh Hegde and questioned “why has he not probed corruption charges against Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa.”
