DEVELOPMENT PROJECT:M. Chandrappa, MLA, launching the work on rejuvenation of Bahaddurghatta tank in Holalkere Assembly constituency on Sunday. BELLARY: M. Chandrappa, Holalkere MLA, on Sunday, inaugurated the work of rejuvenating the Bahaddurghatta tank at an estimated cost of Rs. 45 lakh. Mr. Chandrappa said that the work had been taken up out of the Rs. 5 crore released by the State Government to each Assembly constituency. The works proposed to be taken up immediately included strengthening and widening of the tank bund to facilitate movement of bullock carts and repair of waste weir. However, the work of removing the silt from the tank would be taken up after the monsoon, particularly when the tank would become dry, he said. Mr. Chandrappa said that he would go to the people and listen to their grievances and take steps to address them at the earliest. During the past three years, various developmental projects had been taken up in the district, for which the Government had released Rs. 350 crore. The work of laying concrete roads at an estimated cost of Rs. 10 crore in rural areas was under way, he said. Nirmala Mallesh, vice-president of the taluk panchayat and Lakshmi Mounesh, zilla panchayat member were present.
