NELLORE: Former BJP All India president and senior leader Bangaru Lakshman criticised the UPA Government for investigating into the properties of yoga guru Baba Ramdev, who launched a ‘Satyagraham' against corruption and black money. Speaking to the newsmen here on Sunday, Mr. Lakshman termed that the Centre's decision to probe into the activities and the assets of Baba Ramdev was nothing but torturing the yoga guru, who was fighting against black money. The Congress government, instead of initiating action against the corrupt leaders and on Swiss Bank account holders, was trying to divert the minds of people, he alleged. The BJP leader expressed wonder on why the government was not holding a meeting with the opposition party leaders over the issue, but was trying to hush up the scams with the help of some ministers. The UPA government's attitude the protestors against corruption is highly condemnable, he said. Condemning the Congress leaders' statements that the protestors had the support of BJP and RSS leaders, Mr. Lakshman said the BJP and its allied parties are fighting against corruption and black money, but was not backing the agitation with any other reason. “This is the first time that such huge scams, involving some lakhs of crores, took place in the country. Though there was a hue and cry on the scams and black money across the country, there was no response from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, which is raising many doubts among people'', he said. Mahila Morcha state general secretary K.Vijaya Lakshmi, BJP district president Karnati Anjaneya Reddy attended the conference.
