KOCHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) was learnt to have arrested Naushad, hailing from Kunjindikkara near Aluva, on Sunday in connection with a case in which the palm of a college teacher was chopped off in July last year. This is the first arrest since the NIA was handed over the investigation into the crime. The arrested person has been accused of aiding the main accused in the crime, police sources said. T.J. Joseph, a lecturer at Newman College, Thodupuzha, was attacked at Muvattupuzha on July 4 last year.
