Vinod overcomes Sivananda in final

CHENNAI: Southern Railway's G. Vinod pulled off a remarkable 7-11, 8-11, 4-11, 11-8, 11-3, 11-9, 11-7 win over top seed Sivananda Seshadri (Food Corporation of India) in the men's final of the Indian Oil Corporation first State-ranking table tennis tournament at the Hall of TT, Nehru Stadium on Sunday.

The 28-year-old, seeded three, lost the first three games, but bounced back to claim the next four games.

N. Vidya (AKG), the top seed, scripted a 11-9, 11-7, 11-5, 10-12, 11-8 victory over Indian Bank's Shwetha Kumaravel.

D.S.L. Prasad, Executive Director, IOC, gave away the prizes.
