WILL IT HIT THE MARK?:Minister for Sports and Youth Services G. Janardhan Reddy at the launch of ‘Sport at the Doorsteps' programme in Bangalore on Wednesday.

Bangalore: The State Government on Wednesday launched a new programme, Sport at the Doorsteps, to identify talent and encourage sportspersons in rural areas.

Minister for Sports and Youth Services G. Janardhan Reddy launched the programme by flagging of a vehicle carrying all sorts of sports equipment along with two coaches whose brief is to help identify rural talent.

The coaches will interact with youth organisations and sportspersons, train for a few days in their arena of strength and hand over sports equipment to them.

The vehicle will first travel to Mandya. The programme will be gradually extended to other districts as well.

One mobile sport vehicle will be provided to each district in the coming days, Mr. Reddy said.
