Film distributor arrested

Bangalore: Kannada and Telugu film distributor Bala Muthaiah (50) was arrested in a cheque bounce case in Hyderabad on Tuesday and released on conditional bail by a local court here on Wednesday.

According to J.P. Nagar police, the distributor was served with a warrant by the 13th ACMM Court recently after a Rs. 55 lakh cheque he issued to a financier, Dhanaraj, who is also a Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike councillor, bounced.

Mr. Muthaiah had produced several films in Kannada and also distributed several films in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Conch shells seized

The Malleswaram police arrested a shopkeeper for illegal sale of conch shells and seized 212 shells from him.
