It is all set to provide good governance: Chiru

TIRUPATI: Ahead of the merger with the Congress, Praja Rajyam president and local legislator K. Chiranjeevi defended the State government, even while snubbing the YSR Congress Party leaders in the same vein.

At a media conference here on Thursday, Mr. Chiranjeevi saw good days ahead for the State under the Congress rule led by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.

Having overcome teething troubles, the Kiran Kumar Reddy regime was on track and was set to provide good governance, the Praja Rajyam chief said .

To a query on the demand by YSR Congress that the Praja Rajyam legislators should resign and get re-elected, Mr. Chiranjeevi curtly asked the MLAs owing allegiance to Mr. Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy to seek a fresh mandate first, before advising his party MLAs.

Talking about development, Mr. Chiranjeevi said the fringe villages of Tirupati remained ignored for long, with roads and drainages in bad condition.

He also expressed displeasure over the state of medical infrastructure, adding that he would inspect the hospitals soon along with the Chief Minister. The demand for an anaesthesia unit in the Government Maternity Hospital would also be met soon.

“Be it water scarcity or city beautification, I am here to take care of them and the people of Tirupati can rest be assured that I will always work for their welfare, irrespective of my position in future,” he said.

Earlier, he laid the foundation stone for a drinking water pipeline in Kattakindaooru on the city outskirts and also inaugurated a shuttle badminton court in the TTD's Sridevi Complex on Tilak Road.

Lays foundation

TIRUMALA: Mr. Chiranjeevi participated in a number of programmes organised by the TTD at Tirumala.

He visited Balaji Nagar, a predominantly workers colony and participated in the foundation laying ceremony for the Rs.20 crore housing scheme being taken up by the TTD for the benefit of its residents, mostly local and displaced traders who were affected in the wake of the implementation of the master plan.

TTD Executive Officer I.Y.R. Krishna Rao said the project which was already delayed would be completed within two years. As many as 1,060 tenements are expected to come up in the colony.

Mr. Chiranjeevi was also earlier closeted with the TTD top-brass for a review of the various developmental works being taken up for the benefit of visiting pilgrims and Tirumala residents.

Visits FP shop

He also visited a fair price shop in the colony and talked to the consumers about the distribution of ration.
