He is facing charges of assaulting PA to HKADB Secretary

GULBARGA: Chairman of the Hyderabad Karnataka Area Development Board (HKADB) Amarnath Patil, who is facing charges for allegedly assaulting Shrimant Pattedar, personal assistant to HKADB Secretary Shalini Rajneesh Goel, continues to evade arrest, seven days after the incident.

Two police teams from Gulbarga are looking for him in Bangalore and Hyderabad for the past five days, but without success.

Mr. Patil is also general secretary of the State unit of the BJP.

His mobile phone, which the police were tracking, has been switched off for the past four days, said a senior police official involved in the investigation. He said the search would continue in Bangalore and Hyderabad, and if needed teams would be sent to other towns.

Mr. Patil had applied for bail. The case was booked on June 9, based on a complaint by Mr. Pattedar from his hospital bed.

Mr. Pattedar is undergoing treatment at the Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital.

The special court which heard the bail plea posted the case to June 20 for further hearing and asked the prosecution to file its objection.

According to the police official, the objection to the bail application would be filed on Friday.

Three arrested

The police have arrested three persons in connection with the case. They were granted bail by the special court.

All three persons are from the Scheduled Castes, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act does not apply to them.
