Vihari and Faiq crack centuries

HYDERABAD: Centuries by Ranji star G.H. Vihari (101 not out, 92 balls, 16 x4) for MP Colts and Mohd Faiq (100 not out, 130 balls, 13x4, 1x 6) for SCRSA in different matches were the highlights of the A-Division (three-day) league cricket championship here on Thursday.

In another match, another Ranji star Akshath Reddy, who resumed at his overnight score of 184, went on to complete a double century (241, 279 balls, 29x4, 7x6) for Deccan Chronicle against Andhra Bank. This also happened to be the first double century of the season.

The scores:

Andhra Bank 342 & 199 for six in 42 overs (Naveen Reddy 52, Aaron Paul 37, N. Arjun Yadav 43) drew with Deccan Chronicle 521 for eight decl. (Akshath Reddy 241, Parth Jhalla 92, P.S.S. Bharath 50 not out, P.M. Sarvesh Kumar three for 125, Amol Shinde three for 129).

BDL 225 & 127 for three in 30 overs (Paramveer Singh 74, B. Sandeep 31 not out) drew with SBH 337 for four decl. in 83 overs.

MP Colts 398 & 213 for four in 30.3 overs (G.H. Vihari 101 not out, Benjamin Thomas 69) drew with Ensconse 319 in 71.2 overs (M.A. Rizwan 46, Medhi Hasan 44, Minash Gabriel four for 80, Harshavardhan four for 79).

Evergreen 209 & 180 for five in 70.5 overs (Tanmay Agarwal 80, J. Anshul 56) drew with SCRSA 356 for nine decl in 100 overs (Mohd. Faiq 100 not out).

Reddy shines

A good all-round show by Abhinay Reddy , who claimed three for 47 and then hit 53 (36 balls, 6x4, 1x6) helped Pragyan Ojha XI record a one-wicket win over Amit Mishra XI in the third Deccan Chronicle Young Minds T-20 Trophy cricket tournament at the Indus World School here.

The scores:

Amit Mishra XI 172 from five in 20 overs (Arun Deva 75, Javeed 35, Abhinay Reddy three for 27) lost to Pragyan Ojha XI 174 for nine ( Abhinay 53, Akhil three for 25).

Easy win for CCOB

City College Old Boys recorded a 55-23 win over National Police Academy (Shivrampally) in the Hyderabad YMCA inter-club basketball tournament here.

Sec'bad Club 23 (Akshay 10, Shashank 10) bt St. Martin's Engg college 19 (Anil 10).

City College Old Boys 55 (Vinay Yadav 19) bt National Police Academy 23 (Ajay 14).

HAL 58 (David 17, Praveen 13) bt Nizam Basketball Academy `B' 32 (Kiran 13).

Nizam Basketball Academy `A' 53 (Samson 15, Vijay 15) bt Flying Asteroids 23 (Yadav 15).

VNR Engg College 49 (Ranjit 15, Dhruv 10) bt YMCA Sec'bad 37 (Sai 15, Srinath 10).

Sruta-Pranjala pair takes the honours

The pair of G. Sruta Kirti and Y. Pranjala, both from Hyderabad, won the girls' under-16 doubles title, defeating Renu Sharma of Haryana and Anukriti Choudhary of Delhi 6-2, 2-6, 10-3 in the AITA Super Series tennis tournament in Chandigarh on Thursday.

Earlier, Sruta and Pranjala defeated the pair of Vanshika Sawhney of Delhi and Himani Mor of Haryana 7-5, 5-7, 11-9 in the semifinals.

Later in the girls' under-12 semifinals, Y. Pranjala defeated Sruta 6-1, 6-3 victory.
