‘Biryani hi Biryani' to tickle taste buds

Special Correspondent

Tasty bite:Chief Chef Brijesh Thakur displays a bread carved as a crocodile Hotel D.V. Manor in Vijayawada on Thursday.

VIJAYAWADA: Food can be fun. Amazing images of bread carving adorning a table placed at a focal point at Aromas, the multi-cuisine restaurant of Quality Inn hotel D.V. Manor was cynosure of all eyes.

News photographers who visited the place for launch of ‘Biryani hi Biryani' on Thursday, went on a clicking spree, capturing the delightful sight of the amazing images of bread carvings.

A crocodile hatchling carved out of a big size loaf looked as if it would move any moment. Visitors touched and felt the texture of its skin. Flanked by smaller images of a tortoise and a couple of snakes, a few vegetable carvings done with a watermelon and capsicums, the setting attracted attention almost instantaneously.

“The serrated blade easily cuts through a bread and so the dents made to give a natural look to its skin texture was not a very tough job,” explained Brijesh Thakur, the chief chef of the hotel, even while attending to the guests at the food festival.

“The lip-smacking biryani festival is open to the public for lunch and dinner sessions from Friday. It's a fortnight-long fare and we want people of the city to visit this place and feast on the assortment of biryanis, both in vegetarian and non-vegetarian varieties, along with their families,” Rajesh Berry, vice-president and General Managar of the hotel, said.

The chefs have worked on 10 sets of menu that will be rotated to avoid repetition of dishes for regular visitors.
