Unmindful act:A huge tree felled on Thursday at Sangareddy in Medak district. —

SANGAREDDY: It's nothing but slaughtering the nature for man's convenience. That is what happened in the middle of the district headquarters town of Medak on Thursday.

While people were just watching, three big trees were cut with machines by men in the presence of officials at the Inspection Bungalow located in the heart of the town.

For a man to cut a tree with the help of a machine, it took less than half-an-hour, but it might have taken more than a decade for nature lovers to grow the tree to the present size. The trees were cut down to provide space for the construction of a new guesthouse/ data collection centre on irrigation for the district. Though there was scope for relocating the trees by following new methods, none in administration seem to have given a thought to it.
