Door-to-door survey, rallies, public meetings, etc. to be held during the week Bhimavaram: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) and its student wing Student Islamic Organisation of India are observing Education Week in the State from June 17. During the period, the Jamaat will organise an educational awakening and developmental awareness campaign. JIH town in-charge Akbar Hussain said the campaign was aimed at promoting education among Muslims and other weaker sections of society. He said: “It is found that people are reluctant to send their children to school due to financial constrains. Collective effort is required to tackle such issues and social backwardness among the poor.” Frontal organisations of the JIH — All India Ideal Teachers' Association, SIO, Girls Islamic Organisation, Movement for Peace and Justice, and Ideal Youth Movement — would participate in the campaign, he said. Door-to-door survey, rallies, public meetings, group discussions, and interaction with teachers and parents would be organised during the week. Notebooks distribution At the end of the campaign, notebooks would be distributed free of cost among poor children. Educational and career guidance camps in slum areas and Friday sermons would be held to motivate public to take education seriously, he said.
