BELLARY: Tapal Ganesh, mine-owner, has yet again criticised G. Janardhan Reddy, Minister for Tourism and mine owner, for his reported claims that he is not involved in illegal mining. “If so, why should the Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC) have recommended cancellation of all four mining leases, three held by the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) and one by the Anantapur Mining Corporation, owned by Mr. Reddy in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh? Why did the Andhra Pradesh Government order a thorough inquiry into the alleged illegal mining by the OMC, and why were allegations being made that he was transporting mineral ore of high quality, belonging to the State, using Andhra Pradesh State permits,” he asked at a press conference here on Thursday. Mr. Ganesh demanded that Mr. Reddy step down owning moral responsibility for illegal mining.
